...Not a Banana is one of the first of a series on 24" wooden circles. These panels were to be used for wine barrel caps, but became rescued recycles.  Thanks to my friend Mike Kendal for capturing these for me.  I began pouring paint and learned of resin while in process.  I have since done a number of these in the series.

These "S" shaped panels are recycled cast off wooden panels.  In this case two panels are hung together to resemble a moving cobra.

These small paintings are not on panel, but they have more in common with the wood panels than the other canvas images. Each is a variation on how to treat the three colors.

Two Faced

Two Faced
20" Diameter
Acrylic on Wood Panel
$150

Like a lot of things in my life, Two Faced happened accidentally. This is one panel.  I poured on the face displayed on the right.  The panel sat on a wrinkled sheet, and the pain moved onto the bottom using capillary action.  I hang it away from the wall.

Damaged Heart

Damaged Heart
30x48
Damaged Heart was painted rather quickly, but it took a lot of time for contemplation.  I wanted to evoke Frida Kahlo without copying her.  I used the Two Fridas as a base.  The colors and reference to her heart were prominent, as well as her frequent use of flowers in her hair.

Dancing without Feet

Dancing without Feet
30x48
Dancing without Feet is 6 different paintings.  Layers of paint create a wonderful texture like alligator scales.  I found myself drawn to Frida Kahlo in the last version an am convinced that she is dancing without feet away from pain and death.
